The POLICE Federal Credit Union of Omaha was originally chartered in 1958 to provide the Omaha Police Department with much needed financial resources. As the credit union grew, more groups were added to our field of membership. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT: To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents. We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain security of your funds and our country.
Omaha Police Department
As the original group for our core membership, the Omaha Police Department represented the majority of our membership. The OPD was established in 1857 and a couple of months later, J.A. Miller was named the first City Marshal. In 1866, the force had four men. The OPD had many different locations. The current headquarters location was built between 1968-70. For more information on OPD, visit their web site at http://opd.ci.omaha.ne.us/.
